Chitwan
National Park
One of the few
places left to sight, one-horned rhinos and other endangered
species like the Bengal Tiger, the Gangetic Dolphins and the
Gharial Crocodile, it's a verdant forest with sal trees
covering 70% of the area. About 600 species of plants, over
43 species of large mammals, 526 species of birds, 150
different types of butterflies, 126 species of fish and 49
species of reptiles abound here.
The handsome
black-faced, grey langur monkeys and the common brownish red
rhesus monkeys, deers include the spotted, barking, samber,
hog, swamp and Asia’s largest antelope, the blue bull frolic
here unconcerned. Other animal species include leopards,
wild dogs, various species of mongoose and cats, wild boar,
porcupines, bats and squirrels.
Nature trek
to Gadi Hill
Go for Village
walks, nature and bird watching tours on Chepang Chitwan
Hills trail. You will reach the Uppardang Gadhi – displaying
classic octagonal artillery that defended the surrounding
countryside and offers spectacular views in every direction.
Siraichuli
Viewpoint
Apart from a
70mm view of the Himalayas, it affords magnificent sunrise
and sunset views from the top of Siraichuli hill. A mixture
of experiences of hills and Terai, Cultural Experience the
lifestyles of ethnic groups, bird watching and other natural
attractions can be had on this trail.
Paragliding
One of the
newest adventure sports is on offer but you have to make
your own arrangements.
Bird
Watching
When thousands
of water birds migrate along the Koshi Tappu reserve, it is
a heavenly sight. Even otherwise, Chitwan is a birdwatcher’s
delight with more than 450 migrant and local species.
Rafting
Raft down the
Trishuli River to Chitwan for a different experience. A
gentle 2-3 day trip will take you down to Narayanghat. |
